Despair

"AND AM FALLING MORE AND MORE INTO DESPAIR."

We are glad that you wrote to us!! We are sorry to hear of your internal pain, but please read our letter to you well, and consider these thoughts deeply.  Please write to us again and tell us how you are doing.

"I GO TO MASS EVERY WEEK YET DON'T FEEL GOD.  HOW DO I GET TO THAT FEELING?"

The presence of God is through His Son alone.  Each person must have a relationship with Jesus the Christ (Christ) based upon Jesus’ personal life and death for us individually, and our surrendering to Him and relating with Him directly to His Word (The Word of God, Trustworthy Word) and His Spirit (The Holy Spirit in the Believer, The Holy Spirit).  The presence of God is not found by a building, religious institution (no matter how old), ritual, tradition, rote prayers (Matt 6:5-15), the faith of others, or anything outward.   It is good that you try to reach Christ, but having Jesus in your heart and His presence is much simpler than that.  In fact, Jesus warns us not to fall into trappings of the outward expressions or following any people, but instead come to Him (Come to Me) only as a simple child, vulnerable and trusting in Him alone.  We cannot “receive” Him if we think our works are good enough, our thoughts are pure enough, our ___ is enough to earn Him.  God, for all of time, has told us we have nothing He needs.  He only wants our heart surrendered to His Son Jesus, specifically. (Deuteronomy 10:16, Deuteronomy 30:6)

"Even now," declares the LORD, "return to me with all your heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning." Rend your heart and not your garments. Return to the LORD your God, for he is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love, and he relents from sending calamity. …  "And afterward, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions. Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days. Joel 2:12,13, 28, 29

God warns us not to be hard hearted, stubborn, or arrogant against His Word, in other words, stiff-necked.  "You stiff-necked people, with uncircumcised hearts and ears! You are just like your fathers: You always resist the Holy Spirit!" Acts 7:51, Exodus 32:9, 10; Deuteronomy 10:16, 2 Kings 17:14, Proverbs 29:1, Jeremiah 17:23

Read  Matthew 23 very slowly and deeply.  Anyone who thinks you have to go through them or their “religious laws” (Matthew 23:4,13,15,18,19,24,33) causes others to stumble, fall into the pit, miss Jesus who is alive.

Child of God?                      I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it." Luke 18:17                 1At that time the disciples came to Jesus and asked, "Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?"   2He called a little child and had him stand among them. 3And he said: "I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. 4Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 18                 People were bringing little children to Jesus to have him touch them, but the disciples rebuked them. When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it." And he took the children in his arms, put his hands on them and blessed them.  Mark 10:13-16

Brief study – a little child is honest, open, vulnerable, trusting (Psalm 56:4, Psalm 143:8, Isaiah 50:10, John 14:1), depending on the parent (Cry Out!, With God), accepting of the love the parent gives, and unassuming, not proud or self-boasting since they know they have done nothing as great as the parent has done. This is the position of the child of God.  This is how we are to come, and to live with Jesus in this life and in the next.

The child relates freely with the parent who loves without condition and respects without condition.  The child openly relates with the parent who teaches, guides, and protects him or her.  The child eagerly enjoys and appreciates being urged along with great love, joy, hope and encouragement for their being with the parent and about the good things their parent does, knowing that their parent is always in charge.  The child is honored and blessed to be trusted, empowered, enabled, given all that is needed and more, in order to live with (John 15), obey, love and do all that their Father asks.    (Matthew 23:9, Luke 23:46, John 15:15, Galatians 4:6, 1 John 3:1)

God is love   1 John 4:16

Who is God, How is God, What is God?, Why is God?     What kind of Love is God?

Jesus is the God of compassion.  When He moved on this earth, He was filled with compassion for the crowds, the lepers, the people who where like sheep without a shepherd, and He is the same way for you and me today.  In fact, that is the reason He rose from the dead, “Therefore He is able to save completely those who come to God through Him, because He always lives to intercede for them.” Hebrews 7:25

So what can you and I not give to God?  Nothing.  God wants our burdens, our sins, our joys, our pains, our concerns, and our hearts and minds.  And being God, He alone is worthy to handle them and deserves that total allegiance from each of us.  Pick and read through any of these hyperlinks which are written with grace and truth.  We hope you are blessed!

Practical Methods for a New Life

In case you are feeling desperate, please Never take your own life (murder).  Never be motivated by bad feelings that are based on hormones, temporary situations or circumstances, in a desperate and measured way for a permanent solution.  Know and trust the facts:  God IS good, He is REAL, and He will win for you as you submit each thought, emotion, attitude, and action to His authority, Word and Spirit.  “We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.”  2 Corinthians 10:5

We are praying for you. We are trusting God for you, and we would sincerely love to hear how you are doing.  If there are any more words of encouragement we can give, please let us know.  You are not alone, for we have felt similarly and the Living God has been the vindicator and salvation of our lives!! Psalm 34 is our motto.   The LORD redeems His servants; no one will be condemned who takes refuge in Him. Ps 34:22    “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus,” Romans 8:1

"The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you; the LORD turn His face toward you and give you peace." Num 6: 24-26

Your Response - THANK YOU FOR CARING.  I HAVE PRINTED THE EMAIL AND HAVE REREAD IT SEVERAL TIMES.  I DO FEEL A BIT BETTER.

We are so grateful for your communication with us.  Yes, we do care!!  We are glad that you are feeling better.  And know that walking by faith is not always accompanied by “good feelings” in the beginning, but the fruit of righteousness from Jesus Christ will permeate your heart and soul as you follow Him directly by knowing His Word and moving by His Holy Spirit, until His Joy bubbles up all through you!  (~The Holy Spirit in the Believer )

At that time Jesus, full of joy through the Holy Spirit, said, "I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for this was your good pleasure.  Luke 10:21

17For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit, 18 because anyone who serves Christ in this way is pleasing to God and approved by men. Romans 14

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.  Romans 15:13

22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. 24Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires. 25Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.  Galatians 5

8For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light 9 (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) 10and find out what pleases the Lord. 11 Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them.  Eph 5

9And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, 10so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ, 11filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God.  Phil 1

We hope you get to read the hyperlinks listed in both previous emails. Those pages have much comfort, wisdom, and help from the Bible for you.  We hope you find them very helpful as well.  We are praying for you with hope.

He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. Psalm 147:3
