Need Mercy

God is a Just God.        Do I need Mercy?

Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne; love and faithfulness go before You. Psalm 89:14

He will judge the world in righteousness; He will govern the peoples with justice.         The LORD is known by his justice; the wicked are ensnared by the work of their hands.         For the LORD is righteous, he loves justice; upright men will see his face.         The LORD loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of his unfailing love.         Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains, your justice like the great deep.         O LORD , you preserve both man and beast.         Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever; a scepter of justice will be the scepter of your kingdom.         May the nations be glad and sing for joy, for you rule the peoples justly and guide the nations of the earth.         He will judge your people in righteousness, your afflicted ones with justice.         Clouds and thick darkness surround him; righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne.         I will sing of your love and justice; to you, O LORD, I will sing praise.         The LORD works righteousness and justice for all the oppressed.         I know that the LORD secures justice for the poor and upholds the cause of the needy. Psalm 9:8,16;11:7; 33:5; 36:6; 45:6; 67:4; 72:2; 97:2; 101:1; 103:6; 140:12

In the land of Uz there lived a man whose name was Job. This man was blameless and upright; he feared God and shunned evil.  He had seven sons and three daughters, and he owned seven thousand sheep, three thousand camels, five hundred yoke of oxen and five hundred donkeys, and had a large number of servants. He was the greatest man among all the people of the East. His sons used to take turns holding feasts in their homes, and they would invite their three sisters to eat and drink with them.  When a period of feasting had run its course, Job would send and have them purified. Early in the morning he would sacrifice a burnt offering for each of them, thinking, "Perhaps my children have sinned and cursed God in their hearts." This was Job's regular custom.  Job 1:1-5      In the course of time, Job told his friends,...

In the course of time Job told his friends,

What you say is true. No human is innocent in the sight of God. Not once in a thousand times could we win our case if we took him to court.

God is wise and powerful-- who could possibly oppose him and win? When God becomes angry, he can move mountains before they even know it. God can shake the earth loose from its foundations or command the sun and stars to hold back their light. God alone stretched out the sky, stepped on the sea, and set the stars in place-- the Big Dipper and Orion, the Pleiades and the stars in the southern sky.

Of all the miracles God works, we cannot understand a one. God walks right past me, without making a sound. And if he grabs something, who can stop him or raise a question? When God showed his anger, the servants of the sea monster fell at his feet. How, then, could I possibly argue my case with God?

Even though I am innocent, I can only beg for mercy. And if God came into court when I called him, he would not hear my case. He would strike me with a storm and increase my injuries for no reason at all. Before I could get my breath, my miseries would multiply. God is much stronger than I am, and who would call me into court to give me justice?

Even if I were innocent, God would prove me wrong. Job 9:1-20  CEV

Is this like you?  Then blessed are you.  For to see that God is so wise and powerful, and that you and I are so weak and powerless is wise.  Mercy shall be yours!

Against You, You only, have I sinned and done what is evil in Your sight, so that You are proved right when you speak and justified when you judge.  Psalm 51:4

He does not answer when men cry out because of the arrogance of the wicked. Job 35:12 Then they will cry out to the LORD , but He will not answer them. At that time He will hide His Face from them because of the evil they have done. Micah 3:4  Do you need forgiveness?  Do you want the evil you have done erased so God will answer you and Not Hide His Face and His Presence from you?     Yes.
